Fuck

Sometimes people can be snots when it comes to another speaking a language which they know not very well. Many of my students have told me the difficulties they have had dealing with native speakers who are not sensitive to the fact that English is their second language and thus don't do what is obvious and speak slower and use easier words. Unfortunately, the reverse is also true, which is a fucking piss-off at times when I am trying to speak Japanese.

So, to everyone: if you are dealing with someone who is trying to speak your language but can't do it as well, be patient. Be encouraging and smile. Wait for them to finish their sentences. Slow down and use easier words. It will be appreciated.

Oh, so you're angry at me. I was wondering why you got offline suddenly.

Pierre, you should keep in mind that you talk to me like one a week at best. And when I talk to you, you suddenly start rattling off new Japanese, which makes it sound like you've improved drastically.

That being said, I have no idea what you can say. It's the same for students at work. When I walk up to someone, I have no idea what they can say, I have to have a conversation with him or her to find their level.

Why do you insist on speaking Japanese to me...suddenly out of nowhere, and then get angry when I speak it back to you because you don't understand what I'm saying?

You didn't ask me if I would be comfortable speaking Japanese to you, you just started talking to me. Because, quite frankly, I think it's strange when a non-japanese person wants to speak Japanese to me...But I was willing to indulge you if you wanted to practice. So if you want to practice, I'll talk to you in Japanese.

And what makes you think I wasn't trying to simplify my Japanese?

Anyway, I wish I could talk to you about this, but since you're ignoring my instant messages and my email, I thought I would write seeing as how this is an indirect attack on me.
